If you’re thinking about joining the ARTventurers Team then the best people to tell you all about it are of course our lovely team members!
Here’s what Lynn from ARTventurers York has to say about her experiences as an ARTventurers licensee……..
I’m a mum of two gorgeous boys and before I had my children I was working in a Hospital as a Health Care Assistant. It was a job I really enjoyed but the shift work just didn’t fit in with family life. I then just did various little jobs that fitted in around the children so I could enjoy them growing up but I desperately wanted to do something more fulfilling. Ideally I wanted something creative too as I studied Art and Design at college and love art and crafts.
Why did you choose to join the ARTventurers team?
I contacted Fiona as the ARTventurers classes looked so much fun and I thought it would be a perfect job for me – I could use my creative skills and I love working with children. I became the very first ARTventurers Licensee in July 2013 and am so glad I took the decision to join the team! It has been so good to have the support and advice from Fiona and all of her ‘tried and tested’ experience, start up support, the session plans and activity ideas – I think I would have found it too daunting starting from scratch on my own. ARTventurers really appealed to me as I loved the idea of getting children creative and thought the free flow format of ARTventurers classes where the children can explore and create at their own pace was fantastic.
How’s it going?
It’s going really well. I started doing just one class for the first term – 7 months on I am now running three classes a week and I have a waiting list for one of them! The number of ARTventurers licensees is growing and it’s invaluable to know that Fiona and the rest of the team are there to share ideas and support and advise each other. It is really nice to be part of the team! Running my own ARTventurers business fits in perfectly with my family and it’s great to be in control of when and where I work! I love being able to use my creative skills again too even if it is cutting up butterfly shapes and making rainbow rice! (the job is never dull!) It is fantastic and very rewarding seeing the children at my classes enjoying different creative experiences and proudly showing off their work and the feedback from parents and children who attend my classes makes me feel really proud!
Here’s some of the fun we had at our York classes for our “Build It” themed week!
